Consolidated Election – April 6, 2027

The April 6, 2027 Consolidated Election in the City of Oakbrook Terrace will include one open seat for alderperson in each of the City’s three wards and one open seat for the unexpired (two year) term of the alderperson in the City’s Ward Three, for a total of four seats available for election.

Candidate Packets and Petition Circulation

Candidate packets will be available for pickup at City Hall beginning Tuesday, August 25, 2026. Packets may be picked up during regular City Hall business hours, Monday - Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday, 8:30 a.m. to noon through September 4, 2026 and commencing September 8, 2026 regular City Hall business hours are Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Petition circulation for the Consolidated Election also begins Tuesday, August 25, 2026. Candidate Filing Period

Filing for the Consolidated General Election begins at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, November 16, 2026, and concludes Monday, November 23, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. Candidate filings will be accepted at City Hall during regular business hours.

Signature Requirements

Prospective candidates should review the 2025 Consolidated Election Canvasses and Abstracts for assistance in determining signature requirements. The canvasses and abstracts identify all wards that were then open for election. Each candidate is responsible for correctly identifying the number of signatures required for their candidacy.

Lottery Date and Time

If two or more petitions are simultaneously filed for the same office as of the opening hour of the filing period, November 16, 2026 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. or within the last hour of the filing deadline, November 23, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., the City Clerk shall break ties and determine the order of filing by means of a lottery to be held in the City Council Chambers on November 30, 2026 at 8:30 a.m.

Statement of Economic Interests

Prospective candidates must file a Statement of Economic Interests and provide a receipt showing that it has been filed by the final candidate filing date, November 23, 2026.

The Statement of Economic Interests cannot be filed online and must be filed with the DuPage County Clerk’s Office.
