Position/Title:  Part-time MAINTENANCE WORKER

The City’s Public Services Department is seeking a part-time (20 plus hours/week) Maintenance Worker. The position assists with the operation and maintenance duties of the public services department which consists of a street and water division. This position is under the direction of the Public Services Director.

Duties

Assists in performing routine maintenance and repair on City buildings and facilities; assists in performing routine plumbing, electrical, heating and cooling, carpentry, remodeling, concrete- work, roofing, and painting. Assists in performing maintenance and repair on City equipment and vehicles including routine maintenance and upkeep and complete repair; performs welding and fabrication functions. Assists in performing maintenance and repair work on all city streets including stormwater management infrastructure, traffic control devices, signs, tree trimming, brush pick-up, right-of-way maintenance, shoulder work, mailbox program, striping, street lights, snow and ice removal and plowing, curb replacement, etc. Assists in performing grounds maintenance functions for all City buildings and facilities including mowing, weeding, trimming, planting, landscaping, watering, bike path maintenance, garbage detail, and other duties as assigned.

Assists in the operation and maintenance of the City’s water distribution system including but not limited to; hydrant maintenance and flushing, valve maintenance, buffalo box repair; water main breaks, service inspections, meter repairs, AMR installations, J.U.L.I.E locates, calibration of instrumentation, contractor assistance, record keeping, water meter reading, customer inquiries, service requests and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to work with co-workers and the public in a clear, kind manner. Ability to follow through with assignments.  Ability to work well in a team or independently.
  • High school diploma or equivalent with training and one year of experience working in the trades or similar profession.  The successful candidate will have basic mechanical ability.
  • Requires the ability to read and write fluently in the English language. Mathematically able to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Salary & Benefits

  • The salary range for this part-time, non-exempt position is $25.00 per hour.
