NICOR Gas Main Project Installation and Restoration Plan
Oakbrook Terrace Residents,
NICOR plans on having the gas main installs completed by the end of April. The restoration that you see right now in your front lawns is only temporary for proper erosion control and safety. Weather permitting, NICOR plans on facilitating all of the final repairs for landscaping and paving beginning late April / early May and should be wrapped up with the entire project including restoration by the end of June. If there are any issues with the current temporary control devices in place or if there are individual resident concerns on any facet of restoration, NICOR will address those concerns. 6/8/23
NICOR restoration is underway. The NICOR restoration crews are restoring all affected areas with sod. A watering contractor is going to water the sod for two weeks after it has been laid. Residents are encouraged to water the fresh sod as well to prevent it from dying.
4/17/23
The Gas Main Construction crew will be working on 22nd St (between MacArthur and Midwest Road) today and tomorrow.
4/10/23
The Gas Main Crew should be finishing up gas services on Karban Road and the backside of 22nd St this week. They should be done by Friday, however there is a possibility of a 2” service added by NICOR on Karban. If that happens, expected clean up and clear out will be Tuesday.

This week, the gas main crew will continue installing gas services on Orchard Ct and then they will move over to Karban Rd and Monterey Ave.

The gas main crew will continue installing gas services to homes on MacArthur Dr, Elm Place and Orchard Ct this week.

The gas main / service construction crew will continue installing gas services to homes on Marshall, MacArthur Dr and Elm Place this week.

Gas service installation crew will continue installing gas services on Eisenhower, Nimitz and Marshall this week.
2/27/23
Gas service install work will continue this week on Stillwell Road and then onto MacArthur Drive.
2/20/23
Nicor will be installing gas services this week along Stillwell and Halsey.
2/13/23
The Gas Main Installation Crew will begin installing services on Stillwell Dr Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday through Friday they will be back on 22nd St and also on Karban Rd completing gas main.
2/6/23
The gas main install crew will continue working on Karban Rd and also in the strip mall between Karban and 22nd St installing main. JULIE locates with be called in this week to replace the gas services on MacArthur, Stillwell and Halsey. Residents will notice many utility flags marking locations in those outlined areas.
1/23/23
Gas main installation will continue along Karban Road this week as well as some work on 22nd Street.
1/17/23
Nicor will be installing main on Karban Rd and Halsey Rd to Monterey Rd. They will also be doing some work behind the Dunkin Donuts between Karban Rd & 22nd St. This work will take place through the rest of this week.
1/10/23
Crews will be working this week along Karban Road.
1/3/23
The Nicor gas main install crews will be back to work on Wednesday, 1/4/23. They will be installing gas main on Karban, Eisenhower, Monterey and a small portion on MacArthur the rest of this week and next.
12/19/22
Nicor crews will be shut down this week and next for winter break. The crews will return to work the 1st week of January and begin installing the main on Monterey, Karban and Eisenhower.
12/12/22 Update:
Nicor will be working on tie-ins for all the open holes this week (Stillwell, Halsey, MacArthur, Marshall, Nimitz and Elm). They will also be backfilling all openings except two (in parkway locations) for the 2 week holiday shut down.
12/5/22 Update:
Nicor crews will be working on Elm Place, MarArthur Dr., Nimitz Road and Karban Road this week
11/28/22 Update:
Nicor will continue their gas main install on Eisenhower, Nimitz and MacArthur this week.
Nicor is starting the Gas Main Replacement Project on November 10, 2022. Related work includes inspecting sewers, identifing new meter locations and utilities, installing the natural gas main and line, connecting the system facilities and restoring landscaping.
The work will start on MacArthur at Butterfield, proceeding to Halsey and Stillwell and then working down to Leahy. Once completed there, they will continue on Halsey to Karban and work back to MacArthur. Nimitz and Marshall work will follow.
